I have made more Creatures. I am waiting on post from Uk as I could find any more Hama beads of the right colours in Salisbury but have successfully used the web and e-mail to sort out an order direct from the supplier in Scotland (I feel a little bit smug abou it) ..Hama is a Danish company and Danish products are not welcome here right now.
I tried some hanging methods for the installation. This is truly going to be an installation as I can arrange them differently each time I hand them. I haven't finished off the ends but the place at which they are connected to a horizontal line of fishing line can be decorated with spung fishing line or a small creature of the correct zone. It is simple and sometimes Less certainly is More.
I tried stringing them up on spung fishing line in a wave but they looked like a blur - need enough space between them so that the lines hanging them don't snag and look just like an untidy mess
Then tried spacing them out more but they looked 'lonely' perhaps
Then I pushed them very close together and they looked like a mess
Then in desperation or, [joke... ] - creative genius :-) I just squished them all really tight and close up and ..........I think I have it... a bouncing load of creatures as dredged up from the abyssal plane. They look just like a Korean trawler' hawl a net full of fish bulging at the bottom leading off to isolated ones at the top.
Or a bunch of flowers hanging in space - This piece should do to you whatever it does - but I hope it makes the viewer aware and savour the excitement ones gets when appreiciating the pleasure we get from colour - Thankfully we have the sense of sight.
(I can't go back to the acrylic rod and fishing net structure that I had in Urchfont as I made that decision and didn't bring the materials here to Oman. Maybe an "Ooops" is warranted here.)
