I considered scoobydoo for the structure moving on from the ones I made with string (on British Airways!) but scoobydoo are too short, so I have dyed fishing line and ...
The image doesn't show the 3D nature of the 'vessel' created with heavy fishing line. But trust me on that!
It twists and contorts itself because of the spring imparted into the fishing line construction. cf. pre-stressed concrete (which brings me full circle back to my in my research files)
It is a surprising to the touch because it is so stiff - unusual for stitched textiles - and I have fallen lucky because it very much mimics the body of one of my creatures (orange plastercene, see below) so I think I must take this further.
I am now going to embellish and wrap the surface with scoobydoo and whatever I feel like - I think it is begging for some scaley bubble wrap "sequins" to complete this sample.
